Linux Modems

Oh my goodness! It's still a mess out there! I finally gave up trying to get my own hardware working, I was planning to just go out and buy a couple of new(or used) modems that are known to work perfectly with linux. My budget... under $10 and is has to be internal pci.

This shouldn't be hard!?!

It is!

I went to linmodems.org I went to the pci database... I searched and I searched.. but all I could find were lists of chipsets that work. and instructions on how to check to see if mine works with linux or not.

DUH... I install linux, and my modem doesn't work... IT DOESN"T WORK!!! I don't need to do extra research on that. That part is solved!!!!

Just give me a list of modem model numbers that I can buy... Or give me a vendor that actually puts linux on the package as being supported... I WOULD BUY!!!!

$10 is infinately more than $0 I was willing to pay for years. Heck, I might even spend $20 if I could find a site that advertises the compatibility.

on another note:
My Toshiba Tecra M4 has a failing space bar?!!! It's showing signs of being used as my primary machine for the past few months. I have not dropped or spilled on it.

It's just getting regular wear and tear...
It's getting really slow though.. even though I have 2gbof memory in it?!
