Kubuntu from a chroot
I finally upgraded chirp to Kubuntu Edgy
I put it on my 5 gig partition instead of my 11 gig one... oops!
I did it from a chroot.. that is I didn't use a CD image.
Basically, if you've installed Gentoo you know what to do, just do it with a debootstrap instead of unpacking the stage..whatever tarball.
Don't forget to install your kernel! and lots of other programs you may need.
DWL-630 support HAS BEEN DROPPED?!! There is no linux-restricted-modules available for the kernel I was using. I'm sure the firmware is in there somewhere...
knetworkmanager just plain doesn't work
for some reason / doesn't show up in df or cat /etc/mtab I chose reiserfs... that may have something to do with it.. (my fstab was empty!!!! and it still booted!?!!)
Editing the grub.lst was easy as pie, I've done it a couple of times, just copy one of the list in dapper to have a 2.6.17 kernel load from the edgy drive.
--Ok, I post draft quality content... I'll probably never clean this up... Just know that it's possible to install ubuntu from another distro without using a cd, from the network, (or another repository)
