When is nVidia going to release drivers for x.org 7.1? I'm thinking about abandoning my nVidia accelerated requirement for the computers I buy. In fact, nVidia should release some specifications so that we can make a driver. I'm almost classifying it as dishonest for me to own one of these cards. I'm just supporting the "binary trap" that R.M.S. talks about.
Anybody want to start a 3d graphics chip company that allows people to build drivers for it?The "single driver" system does keep away some of the bad things about binary drivers.. but when it comes down to it were still stuck with a big potential to get screwed.Read more at www.nvidia.com/page/hom...

Nvidia continues to lead the pack in 3d performance and capability on Linux. I'm basically questioning my need for so many features. The intel chipset specification is released well enough for people to write a driver. I think I need that more than I need 3d performance. If intel is good enough to play quake 3 I'll be ok. I can also save tons of mooney on the laptop that I want to get. but.. no 3d nvidia demos.
